Food and vehicles lead the way… Iraq’s imports from America decline to $238 million

Trade map data from the International Trade Centre, based on data from the US Census Bureau, showed that the value of US exports to Iraq reached about $238 million during the first quarter of 2026, a decline compared to the fourth quarter of 2025, in which exports amounted to about $458 million.
According to data reviewed by Shafaq News Agency, food products topped the list of the most prominent American exports to Iraq during the first quarter of this year, as the value of Iraq’s imports of corn amounted to about $27 million, while rice came in second place with a value of about $23 million.
Vehicles and automobiles came in third place among the most prominent American goods exported to Iraq, with a value of about $19 million, followed by jet and gas turbines and related equipment, with a value of about $16 million.
The data also showed that Iraq imported nuts from the United States worth about $14 million, in addition to centrifuges and filtration and purification equipment of the same value, as well as insulated wires and cables and electric batteries, whose imports amounted to about $7.5 million.
These data reflect the diversity of trade relations between Iraq and the United States, as they are not limited to the energy sector, but extend to include the food, vehicle, industrial and technological equipment sectors, given the continued reliance of the Iraqi market on imports to meet part of the local demand.
The trade map data is based on statistics from the US Census Bureau, which tracks international trade by country, product, and its value in US dollars.
