A security source revealed on Sunday that a force from the Counter-Terrorism Service carried out a security operation in the Al-Harithiya area of central Baghdad, resulting in the arrest of former MP and head of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Talal Al-Zubaie, and two of his sons.
The source stated that “the force raided Al-Zubaie’s house and took him, along with his sons Omar and Haroun, to the requesting authority for questioning regarding information related to the accumulation of wealth and the possession of large sums of money.” The source explained that “a confidential informant provided information to the Parliamentary Integrity Commission that Al-Zubaie had hidden huge sums of money in locations that will be identified later.”
The source added that “the confidential informant revealed that Al-Zubaie owns palaces, luxury vehicles, and large sums of money deposited in foreign banks, in addition to his involvement in corruption cases during his tenure as head of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee.”
The source indicated that “the forces specializing in pursuing wanted officials and MPs take special security measures regarding their operations by not disclosing targets or movements in advance to prevent information leaks or the escape of those wanted.”
