US President Donald Trump confirmed on Saturday that talks with Iran are ongoing, indicating that some information regarding the Strait of Hormuz would be obtained by the end of the day.
Trump said in a speech followed by Shafaq News Agency: “We are talking with Iran and the talks are going very well, and we will receive some information regarding the Strait of Hormuz and Iran by the end of the day.”
He added: “They wanted to close the Strait of Hormuz again,” adding that “Iran cannot blackmail us.”
The US president stated: “I don’t know why we waited 47 years before taking action against Iran, and no one has confronted Iran in the last 47 years as I have.”
Earlier today, Trump confirmed that negotiations with Iran were progressing, noting that “things are going well,” and expecting talks to continue over the weekend.
On Friday, Trump reiterated that the war the United States is waging against Iran is nearing its end and will not be renewed, following the implementation of a ceasefire to pave the way for a “comprehensive peace” after a 40-day military conflict in the region.
