Iraq’s Federal Integrity Commission announced on Saturday that it has officially joined the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA), which has 192 member countries.

This came during the chairmanship of the delegation participating in the annual conference of the association and its fifteenth general meeting, which are being hosted by the Qatari capital, Doha.

Al-Lami stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that “this step will enhance Iraq’s international standing, represented by the commission, among anti-corruption institutions worldwide,” noting its “contribution to transferring successful international experiences and keeping pace with the escalating development in anti-corruption procedures.”

The conference began with a speech by the president of the association (Danny Wu Yingming), who welcomed the participating delegations and wished the conference success. The proceedings included a review of a number of successful international anti-corruption experiences, particularly in harnessing modern technology to reduce corruption, and ways to mobilize the public to take action against corruption.

The fifteenth general meeting of the association reviewed its work and its most prominent initiatives for the past year and the coming year, as well as approving the joining of new members.

The convening of the League’s annual conference and its fifteenth general meeting coincides with the launch of the eleventh session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (December 15-19).
