The head of the Department of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, Major General Miqdad Miri, confirmed on Tuesday that Baghdad has become one of the safest capitals, noting that no major terrorist crimes have been recorded during the past 100 days, while revealing high coordination and exchange of information with Iran and Syria to combat drugs.
In response to a question from a Shafaq News Agency correspondent during a press conference held today in Baghdad, Miri said, “We have an exchange of information with neighboring Iran as well as with Syria, and the coordination is very high,” indicating that “high coordination” is taking place to work “as one team” to carry out operations and arrest drug traffickers.
He noted the execution of “24 drone sorties on the border strip,” as well as more than 100 activities that resulted in the arrest of smugglers.
He added that “Baghdad has now become one of the safest capitals,” explaining that “no major terrorist or criminal crimes were recorded during the 100-day period, while the recorded crimes were limited to minor incidents, all of whose circumstances were revealed within a record period.”
Regarding the “ISIS” organization, Miri said that “Iraq today is not the same as yesterday, and the security services and the Iraqi people are not the same as they were yesterday,” indicating that what remains of the organization are “pockets and individuals with limited capabilities,” and that security duties are carried out daily to arrest them, stressing that “ISIS will never return.”
