10-20-2012: Iraqi Dinar Guru guesses!!!
10-20-2012 Newshound Guru Med THERE IS ONLY A FEW WAYS TO INCREASE THE VALUE AGAINST FOREIGN CURRENCIES. I BELIEVE ONE IS TO PUT IT ON THE OPEN MARKET OR INTERNATIONAL. THEN BY ACTUALLY PAYING YOUR DEBTS AND HONORING PAYMENTS YOU GET A CREDIT RATING WHICH WHEN YOU OWE THE WORLD 350 BILLION USD. OBVIOUSLY, THEY HAVENT DONE ANY OF THAT. NEXT THEY HAVE TO STOP THE CRAWLING PEG, THEY HAVE TO UPDATE THE BANKING. THEY CANT BE FOOTLOOSE BUT THEY NEED SOME AGGRESSIVENESS ALONG WITH OPENING UP THE COUNTRY.
10-19-2012 Newshound Guru Adam Montana I do not see the US going back to Iraq – they have come too far and that would be akin to pushing a baby bird out of the nest and then grabbing it right before it flys. Maliki’s “friendliness with Iran” – I don’t give it much weight. If I lived next to someone like Iran, I’d act like I liked them too. And to sum it up, do any of these things have an effect on the timing? Nope – I think the timing is a result of the path taken to those things.
10-19-2012 Newshound Guru Enorrste If you feel Maliki just is making a power grab and wants to look like a hero without Shabibi, then there is a chance that something will still happen by the end of the year. Like I said …removing Shabibi does not change the current state of economic affairs in Iraq. Therefore, we may get lucky and Maliki raises the value.
10-19-2012 Newshound Guru Enorrste Think about what would happen if the dinar improved in value 1000 times. Maliki could then just send Iran a check, right? Then Iran would be able to keep the Kurds there by offering them more money. The simple fact is that Maliki could be much more dangerous with a higher valued dinar than with it the way it is. As I have stated before I cannot see what motivates him to stop the appreciation of the dinar. He will be a hero if he allows it to float. There is, in my mind, no reason why he would not allow this. Yet he appears to have fought it for years now. Go figure.
10-19-2012 Newshound Guru Adam Montana A major RV of the Iraqi Dinar will have an impact on the entire global economy and therefore every currency in the world – but the VND and IQD are not uniquely connected.
10-19-2012 Newshound Guru Enorrste I believe that Shabibi appears to have acted professionally and honorably during the period in which we have had our attention on him. In addition it is quite clear that he has had many admirers within his own country. And of course his reputation extends well beyond the borders of Iraq. His resume is impeccable as well. So we are left with this feeling of wanting to say, What’s with this? It simply does not make sense…there clearly is a problem at CBI and Shabibi is ultimately responsible for it.
10-19-2012 Newshound Guru Enorrste I did not say that he [Maliki] would take over the CBI. I only said that he would try to do so, and he is trying to do so. The four bankers who were corrupt was a problem that occurred over 3 years ago. Even supposing that they were behind the loss of the $6.6 billion the “buck” still stops with Shabibi who should have handled the situation back then and reported his conclusions to the Parliament. He did not do that, apparently. Therefore, he was either ignorant of the problem (which he clearly wasn’t since he called for their removal) or he was in some way complicit in the problem. Either way, he is guilty. He was the boss; the buck stops with him. If the money is missing it doesn’t matter whether he stole it or not. What matters is that he was responsible. Hopefully he will have an opportunity to clear this up.
10-19-2012 Newshound Guru Adam Montana I understand that a lot of people – myself included – can grow weary of the constant delays, the never-ending set backs, the missed dates, the… well, all of it. But, I think it’s important to remember that as long as Iraq is going forward and the money is gaining value (which it IS, albeit not as much as we want YET!)… as long as the country is moving in that direction, then it’s just a waiting game and the best thing to do is keep a level head, take deep breaths, and stay sane. This thing is going to play out the same no matter how emotional you do or don’t get, so just enjoy the ride.
