Informed sources confirmed a consensus between the political blocs to provide the governor of Najaf, former Adnan al-Zarafi as a compromise candidate for prime minister in the next government.
The sources said that the political blocs reached after long talks to settle differences over the prime minister to submit Zarvi to fill the post.
Al-Zarafi is acceptable to the political circles and has ties with the Shiite and Sunni blocs, as well as from the younger generation of the Dawa Party. He is the most prominent candidate, and the party is keen to retain the post of prime minister.
The sources pointed out that the names put forward in advance, including Hadi al-Amiri and Faleh Fayyad could not win the support of all parties and faced Vito from some parties, unlike what happened with Al-Zarafi, which was approved by all.
The sources said that Adnan al-Zarfi has close ties with the American side and recently won support from the US embassy to take over the presidency of the next government while at the same time will be visiting Tehran to get the blessing of the Iranian side as well.
