Transport sets date for inauguration of Grand Faw Port

Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, confirmed that next year (2025) will witness the inauguration of the Grand Faw Port.
Al-Saadawi said in an interview with the official newspaper, “The percentages are distributed as follows: quay structures for the container terminal (100) percent, the road linking the ports of Faw and Umm Qasr (92.43) percent, while the submerged tunnel crossing Khor Abdullah is (58.47) percent, and the ten pieces were submerged in water to be transported in the Khor Al-Zubair Canal, the first phase of marine excavation and backfilling works (79.33) percent, progress in the navigation channel of the Grand Faw Port by (77.41) percent, the completion rate in the components of the port (81) percent, the completion rate of the five quays (100) percent, the container yard completion rate (88) percent, and the breakwater completion rate (100) percent.”
He stressed that “the year 2025 will witness the opening of the first phase of the Grand Faw Port.”
He pointed out that “the initial design phase of the (Development Road) project has been completed by (100) percent, in addition to achieving significant progress in the file of lifting the European air ban on the national carrier.”
