The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan renewed its rejection of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s offer to relinquish the presidency instead of all government positions, indicating that the offer was old and did not bring anything new.
The leader of the Union, Ghiath Al-Sorji, said in a press statement, “Talking about the offers of the Kurdistan Democratic Party to end the political blockage is useless because of the insistence of the two parties on the presidency of the republic.”
He added that “giving up the presidency of the republic from the union is impossible, and it is a political custom and an electoral entitlement that cannot be waived,” noting that “the democratic offer is old and is renewed in every media appearance.”
Al-Sorji pointed out that “the political breakthrough will be after the Eid holiday, after all parties have made sure that it is not possible to exclude a component or a political party or to be alone in power.”
