Shafaq News/ The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Hoshyar Zebari, did not rule out on Wednesday the possibility of canceling the results of the parliamentary elections to be held in Iraq next October if they do not meet international standards.
Zebari said in a speech during his participation today in an electoral rally for his party’s supporters, that this election differs from its predecessors because it was based on reducing the size of a single electoral district, adding that one vote is important and cannot be underestimated.
He added that these elections will be subject to great and strict supervision and will be supervised by up to 300 international observers who will come to Iraq and submit their reports directly to the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Zebari continued by saying that if these reports prove that the elections were not fair and disciplined in accordance with international standards, it is likely that they will be cancelled.
