The Parliamentary Services Committee confirmed, on Tuesday, that the intractable electricity crisis is intended by the Americans to dominate the Iraqi economy, especially since the electricity file is related to all the major sectors in agriculture, industry and others, indicating that there is no solution to the electricity crisis except by withdrawing the file from American companies and not mortgaging the file in the hands of those companies .
Committee member Representative Jassem Mohan said, “The dangerous information presented by the Monitoring Committee about corrupt contracts and waste of money for monopolistic contracts in the field of electricity needs a political will to withdraw the file from the hands of American companies and present it to compete with respected international companies .”
He added that “the American side, during the previous years since the occupation and until today, has prevented governments from making any contracts with non-American companies for political reasons,” calling on the next government to “stand firmly to reconsider monopolistic contracts for electricity because electricity is the lifeblood and engine of all vital sectors such as agriculture, industry and others. ” .
