Today, Saturday, a member of the Economic and Investment Committee, MP Nada Shaker Jawdat, called on the government to submit the 2021 budget to Parliament next month, on the condition that it include the resources of the Kurdistan region and border crossings.

“The government is obligated to present the draft 2021 budget to parliament next month, to include broad economic reforms,” Jawdat told Al-Ikhbariya.

She added, “It is not possible to pass a rentier budget without adding additional economic resources, especially customs and border crossings, activating factories and the oil resources of the Kurdistan region and their outlets.”

Jawdat called on the government to “expedite the completion of the Kurdistan region file within the next two weeks, as a maximum, in order to draw the budget according to the bilateral agreement between the two parties.”

It is noteworthy that the differences over financial resources between Baghdad and Erbil have not been resolved so far, while the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bashir Al-Haddad, said that a delegation from Kurdistan will visit Baghdad soon to discuss the issue of border crossings, oil export and the budget.
