The Parliamentary Integrity Commission confirmed today, Friday, that there is a default in the Iraqi real estate file abroad, while indicating that Iraq pays taxes on some of its properties abroad.
A member of the committee, Deputy Taha Al-Dafa’i, according to the official agency, said that “there are hundreds of real estate for Iraq abroad and in most countries of the world and in distinct locations.” Abroad”.
He pointed out that “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided the committee with an inventory of the number and types of real estate, which are hundreds of real estate in various countries of the world,” stressing that “there is a clear failure of government institutions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Iraqi embassies abroad to properly deal with these real estate and benefit from them, either by investing them or Sell it and make use of its money. ”
He explained that “there is a failure to follow up and take the correct measures regarding real estate, even from some other ministries that have real estate abroad,” indicating that “Iraq pays taxes on some of its properties abroad because of not restoring them and leaving them in ruins.”
He noted that “there are real estate such as Saddam’s palaces in the French city of Cannes, which are one of the most prestigious places and their prices are very high, and they are left without restoration, exploitation or even investment,” noting that “he wrote in the last session of the House of Representatives to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to the embassy Iraq in Paris should take advantage of these real estate, but to no avail. ”
