The representative of the Hasm Alliance, Zulekha Elias, explained today, Wednesday, that the competition between Salem Al-Issawi and Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani in the session to elect the Speaker of Parliament on Saturday will be intense, while she confirmed that Al-Issawi’s chances are better.
Elias said in a statement to the Maalouma Agency, “Members of the Al-Maqal Party will vote in favor of Al-Issawi,” noting that “The Resolve and Decisive Alliance includes 35 deputies, all of whom will vote for Salem Al-Issawi, in addition to forces in the coordination framework from which it can obtain more than 50 votes.” Vote, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
She continued, “The Decisive and Determined candidate is the most likely and will go on to head Parliament on Saturday, as he has the acceptability of the representatives in the Council, and he is one of the important political figures in the Sunni community.”
Elias concluded her speech: “Omar Al-Issawi is suitable to provide greater service to the Council compared to Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani,” noting that “the representatives will vote according to their personal convictions and their mood during the session.”
It is noteworthy that a member of the House of Representatives, Firas Al-Muslimaoui, expected today, Wednesday, that a quorum will be reached for the session to elect the Speaker of the Council next Saturday, while he confirmed that Al-Mashhadani will receive more than 180 votes.
