Maliki lauds Sisi’s support to Iraq

BAGHDAD, July 8 (KUNA) — Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki on Tuesday commended the stance adopted by Egypt’s President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi supporting the country’s territorial integrity.
Maliki phoned Al-Sisi and expressed “thanks and appreciation for Egypt’s stance backing Iraq against terrorism”, an official statement said in Baghdad. Al-Sisi’s support was also appreciated by the “Iraqi government and people”.
Maliki also highly appreciated “Al-Sisi’s stance defending Iraq’s territorial integrity, as well as his warning against any attempt seeking division (of the country), calling for boosting bilateral cooperation.
According to the statement, Maliki assured Al-Sisi of the strong position of the Iraqi forces fighting “terrorists” saying they were carrying on with their advance to restore the areas they had lost control of.
Al-Sisi, on the other hand, said that he would dispatch his Foreign Minister to Baghdad in confirmation of the “brotherly relations” between the two countries. The Minister will also discuss prospects of cooperation in all fields. (end)
