Legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi confirmed, on Wednesday, that the current parliament can only implement Article 64 of the constitution by dissolving itself, indicating that the required number is available to the framework and the tripartite alliance.
Al-Tamimi said in a statement to “Information” that “the Supreme Judicial Council’s clarification regarding the failure of the Federal Court to take a decision to dissolve the current parliament because this violates the constitution.”
He added that “Article 64 of the constitution related to the mechanisms of dissolving the House of Representatives stipulates the authority of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to submit a request to the House of Representatives to dissolve it, provided that it is voted on by an absolute majority.
Al-Tamimi explained, “The first method is not available at the present time, because the current prime minister is the head of a caretaker government,” noting that “the application of Article 64 only, the current parliament can only implement the article.”
