Iraq announces the completion of the last phase of the population census “successfully”

Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Planning announced, on Sunday, the successful completion of the third and final phase of the field work for the general population and housing census in the country, which lasted about 20 days.
The ministry stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that all the activities and stages of the census witnessed great success, as they were implemented entirely electronically, indicating that the census began with the numbering and enumeration stage, which began on September 1 and continued until October 31, followed by the population count stage from November 20 to 22, then the final stage, which included collecting detailed data on the demographic characteristics of the population.
The census also included all Iraqi governorates, including the governorates of the Kurdistan Region, in addition to remote areas, nomads, and establishments of various types.
The statement added that the census received the support and recognition of international organizations and the United Nations Mission in Iraq, which praised the level of professionalism and commitment to international standards in implementing the project.
The ministry confirmed that the government succeeded in conducting the population census for the first time electronically, 37 years after the last comprehensive census in Iraq.
The statement indicated that the basic results of the census will be announced next February, after completing the classification, tabulation and coding processes, and preparing detailed reports that address comprehensive data on the demographic and social characteristics of the population.
