Evidence confirms Barzani’s bid to stay in power for another 10 years

A member of the Kurdistan Islamic Group, Zana Said, said on Wednesday that the talk of the Kurdistan region President Massoud Barzani on the end of his political mission after independence is a new declaration of adherence to power, while the adherence will exacerbate the suffering of the Kurds and widen the gap differences within the Kurdish parties.
“Barzani said that his political duties will end after the independence of Kurdistan and he will not run for elections,” he said. “With this announcement, he stressed his attachment to power for a period not known when it is achieved because independence may need 5 or 10 years.”
He added that “this announcement will deepen the political differences within the Kurdish parties in the region, which will cast a shadow on the conditions of citizens who suffer from many problems, notably the difficult economic situation experienced by Kurdistan.”
