National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji stressed, on Monday, the need to set a timetable to end the foreign military presence in Iraq.

This came during Al-Araji’s meeting with the Deputy Commander of the International Coalition Forces in Iraq, General Strickland, and his accompanying delegation in his office in Baghdad.

Al-Araji expressed his observations on the importance of international support for Iraq, and for it to continue in the fields of training, equipping and arming, thanking the international side for the partnership in fighting ISIS and the elimination of terrorism, stressing that Iraq’s relationship with the international community is important, and that the Iraqi government is keen on its continuation, noting the importance of setting a schedule My time to end the foreign military presence in Iraq.

And he indicated the need for Iraq to move to strategic relations in various fields, and he is looking forward to international cooperation in dismantling crises in the region and finding non-military solutions to them, because of its great impact on stability and the consolidation of peace in all countries of the region.

General Strickland reviewed the volume of air, intelligence and advisory support for the Iraqi security forces, and the importance of continuous coordination in protecting the borders with Syria.

The two sides discussed the file of ISIS holders of Iraqi nationality, those detained by the SDF, and Iraqi families of women and children in the IDP camps east of the Euphrates in Syria.
