dollar fell to its lowest level in seven weeks against the yen on Wednesday amid warned traders a day before the general election in Britain , and in anticipation of the decision of the Monetary Policy Committee of the European Central Bank and a certificate of FBI Director former James Comey before the US Senate.
The dollar lost more than one percent against the Japanese currency during the current week , affected by a sharp pressure drop in the yield on US Treasury bonds to the lowest level in seven months under risk aversion , while weak US data overshadowed by expectations the US central bank to raise the interest rate.
The dollar fell 0.2 percent on Wednesday to 109.22 yen , its lowest level since April 21.
The dollar index stood at 96.649 near its lowest level in seven months, which amounted to 96.517 in the previous day.
Euro 0.2 percent against the dollar fell to $ 1.1256 after data showed that German industrial orders fell more than expected in April. The euro stood at the highest level in seven months against the dollar at $ 1.1285 last week.
The Australian dollar rose 0.6 percent to its highest level in a month at $ 0.7555 after data showed that the rich economy grew 0.3 percent in the first quarter of the year to refute fears that record growth may be over resources.
Sterling fell 0.1 percent to $ 1.2900.
