On Saturday, the Ministry of Communications signed three projects to develop Internet service in Iraq.

Ministry spokesman Raad al-Mashhadani said in a statement to the official agency, which was followed by “NAS” (October 9, 2021), that “the General Company for Communications and Informatics continues its work to provide the best services to citizens by implementing three Iraqi national projects, which are the Fiber to Home project in Baghdad and also FTH (Cable). photovoltaic) and the National Communications Project, which began in the Zayouna area in the capital.

He added, “The company seeks to develop its work and build the infrastructure of engineering and technical cadres, and from time to time, new developments are added to provide the best services in terms of terrestrial communication, broadcasting, transmission, as well as Internet service.”

He added, “These projects fall within 3 giant projects signed by the ministry, and it is serious about its work to improve the reality of Internet services.”

On the fate of the project to establish a national company for mobile phone services, Al-Mashhadani stressed, “The issue of the fourth license to add this company is not within the jurisdiction of the Ministry, although there are intentions to implement it. The Ministry of Communications has the capabilities as cadres and infrastructure and is ready for any new hosts on its available networks at the present time.”

Earlier, the Ministry of Communications confirmed that it is ready to provide faster services to citizens via optical cable and cellular communications through the fourth license, if approved.
