Deputy: Recovering Iraqi money smuggled abroad has become almost impossible

{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The deputy of the Al-Sadiqin bloc, Thamer Theban, confirmed, on Thursday, that recovering the stolen money has become an illusion, indicating that more than one official committee was formed since the overthrow of the former regime without interest, and promises to return the money were repeated in the era of successive previous and current governments.
Theban said in a press statement that “Iraqi funds smuggled abroad amount to billions,” indicating that “retrieving it is the responsibility of the government.”
He added, “Committees to recover these funds have been formed and are just steps away from returning Iraqi funds to their pockets and are in the interest of saving the country’s economy from the crisis it has lived through for years.”
He explained that “despite the constant assurance by the concerned authorities that billions of dollars have been allocated abroad, which means recovering these funds has become almost impossible.”
