The President of the Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jan Kubic, “The referendum will be on schedule.”
“Barzani received on Monday the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jan Kubic, in the resort of Salah al-Din, and discussed the two sides at the meeting the political situation in the Kurdistan region, Iraq and the relationship between Arbil and Baghdad now and in the future. ”
He added that “the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations clarified the views and observations of the United Nations on the referendum and talks between the Kurdistan region and Baghdad.”
The statement pointed out that “Barzani confirmed that the decision to hold the referendum is the decision of the people of Kurdistan, a natural and legitimate right of the citizens of Kurdistan, and the process of holding the referendum will be held on time.”
“Barzani also pointed out that the people of Kurdistan will continue to protect stability, coexistence and tolerance in the Kurdistan region and the region.”
