Al-Sudani - Iraq agreed to end the international coalitions mission according to a timetableThe Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, confirmed Thursday, that the Supreme Joint Military Committee agreed to end the international coalition’s mission according to a timetable, noting that the Iraqi-American relationship is the key to stability in the Middle East.

Al-Sudani said in an article in Foreign Affairs magazine, “The elimination of dictatorship enabled the Iraqis to taste freedom for the first time,” noting that “Iraqi-American relations have many commonalities.”

Al-Sudani added, “Cooperation between Iraq and America allowed for the rebuilding of the Iraqi army and effective security forces,” pointing out that “the relationship between the two parties needs to protect our strategic partnership.”

Al-Sudani stated, “We support entering into a new phase of fruitful cooperation that supports Iraq’s sovereignty and independence,” noting that “the Supreme Joint Military Committee agreed to end the international coalition’s mission according to a timetable.”

The Prime Minister noted that “the Supreme Military Committee has developed a road map for future relations,” noting that “the Iraqi-American relationship is the key to the stability of the Middle East.”

The Prime Minister continued, “The decision to make war and peace must be an exclusive matter for the state,” noting that “only small ISIS groups remain and they do not pose a threat to the state.”

Al-Sudani explained, “The war against ISIS enhanced the experience of our forces to make them among the best armies in combating terrorism.”
