Al-Fateh - We warn against granting management of Al-Faw Port to companies and countries that participated in disrupting itInformation/private..
The representative of the Al-Fatah Alliance, Muhammad Al-Baldawi, warned today, Sunday, against giving Al-Faw Port to companies and countries that tried to disrupt it in previous periods, noting that “signing partnerships with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group in the Emirates makes us live obsessed with fear.”

Al-Baldawi said in a statement to the Maalouma Agency, “Signing agreements with competing countries for the Al-Faw port project and granting the UAE powers to expand the port in the future creates an atmosphere of fear among the Iraqi citizen and politicians,” noting that “the UAE is considered one of the competing countries at the level of trade and ports.” .

He continued, “Some companies and countries had previously tried to disrupt this vital project because it constituted a threat to their trade in the region,” pointing out that “Iraq has the most important location in linking the Arabian Gulf and the European continent via Turkey.”

Al-Baldawi concluded by saying, “The UAE’s desire for profit is what makes the agreement positive, but the UAE may disrupt the project and exploit its potential to develop the UAE’s ports, and this is what we fear.”

On April 3, 2024, the Iraqi government concluded a preliminary agreement with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group (ADX: ADPORTS) with the General Company for Iraqi Ports, according to which a joint project will be established to develop the large Al-Faw port and any future expansion of it, in addition to the economic zone adjacent to the port.
