The leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Uday Abdel Hadi, confirmed, on Friday, that the cost of linking with Jordan is sufficient to invest the first phase of the Mansouriya fields.

In an interview with Al-Information, Abdul-Hadi said, “Iraq has huge reserves of natural gas, whether in the Mansouriya fields in Diyala or elsewhere, which are sufficient to operate the stations continuously and ensure self-sufficiency in electricity throughout the year.”

He added, “The cost of the electrical link with Jordan reaches 150 billion dinars, which is sufficient to finance the first phase of investing the Mansouriya gas fields, east of Diyala, and provide large quantities to operate the stations.”

He pointed out that “the electrical connection does not achieve any economic feasibility and represents a waste of money, calling for the need to reconsider the project.”

And the caretaker prime minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, inaugurated yesterday the groundbreaking proceedings of the electrical interconnection project with Jordan.
