Today, Friday, a member of the Al-Fatah Alliance, Aed Al-Hilali, confirmed the absence of unity in the Sunni House’s discourse regarding the position of Speaker of Parliament and the failure to agree on a candidate to assume this position.
Al-Hilali told Al-Maalouma, “The continuation of the vacancy of the position of Speaker of Parliament for more than 5 months confirms the imbalance and disagreement within the Sunni House, as there is no agreement between the Sunni parties on a specific candidate for the presidency of Parliament.”
He added, “The Shiite House and other political parties will support the Sunni parties if they agree on a specific candidate for the position of Speaker of Parliament, but this matter did not happen within the component due to the lack of understanding between the main Sunni parties.”
He stated that “the absence of a unified discourse from the Sunni House was behind the crisis in the position of Speaker of Parliament, and if this matter had been present, the rest of the blocs would have stood by their decision and gone to vote on the candidate presented by them, provided that he possesses the required specifications.”
