Shafaq News/ The Oil and Gas Committee in the Iraqi Parliament confirmed, on Wednesday, its rejection of the Federal Ministry of Oil’s announcement of signing a contract to develop the Akkas gas field with a Ukrainian company.
The Ministry of Oil had announced earlier today the signing of a contract with the Ukrainian company “Ukrazm Resources” to develop the Akkas gas field at a rate of (400) mmqm.
In a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani stressed the importance of developing the Okaz gas field in Anbar Governorate, to add a quantity of (400) cubic feet (million standard cubic feet per day) to national production, which aims to supply electric power generation stations with new quantities of natural gas. .
In this regard, a member of the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee, Ali Al-Mashkour, told Shafaq News Agency, “The Iraqi Ministry of Oil worked to replace the Korean Coke Company with the Ukrainian Ukrainian Company, instead of contracting with reputable international companies, and this is contrary to the directions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa.” “Sudanese.”
Al-Mashkoor explained, “This contract involves a great waste of Iraq’s wealth, and there will be a waste of Iraq’s oil, and this confirms that Iraq is once again failing to choose reputable companies to work within the most important economic field in the country.”
According to the committee member, this contract must be confronted and rejected because of its disastrous repercussions on Iraq’s economy and oil, especially since it was a contract with one of the “weak” companies.
Al-Mashkoor continued: “We will work to uncover and expose the suspicions in this contract during the next stage, especially since this contract was made by some representatives for specific interests, which we will reveal soon with evidence.”
