A parliamentary committee reveals mobile phone companies promises to pay 50 percent of their debts{Baghdad: Al Furat News} said the commission in the House of Representatives, on Thursday, that mobile phone companies promised to pay the debt by 50 percent, indicating that a session will be held on the government’s decision to renew the license of those companies.
Committee member Jamal Cougar confirmed, in a press statement, that “the committee is not satisfied with this renewal in this way for several reasons that made it object and issue a statement on that.”
He added, “These companies give us the second generation in the name of the third generation and the world speaks today about the fifth generation and most of the countries of the region have turned Towards the fourth generation. Also, these companies are indebted to the state and did not pay their debts. Therefore, when they are renewed according to what ?! As all the governments of the world take fees from mobile phone companies in advance, but we in Iraq do not do that. ”
He continued,“ The companies were supposed to pay all their debts to be renewed, and finally in this circumstance, the government did not impose any discount on them. The citizen’s life, therefore, according to these matters, prompted the committee to object to this decision.
He pointed out that “the Finance Committee in Budget 2021 may have a trend towards this issue, because the telecommunications network has a financial cover in the budget,” noting that “the Committee has its capabilities to impose things on mobile networks if the government does not respond.”
He stressed, “The government has made these decisions; it has made it clear that it is not serious about solving the economic problem in the country, or even collecting the resources that it desperately needs today.”
Cougar explained, “A phone call took place between the Chairman of the Finance Committee and the Minister of Communications on the subject, and the last justified that the payment of corporate debt will be 50 percent so that there will be no breach by the phone companies, but the committee was not convinced of that,” noting that “the Finance Committee will hold a session Close to her to talk about this and other important things. ”
