Haddad said in a statement, that “in light of the two statements issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq and the Federal Ministry of Finance recently regarding the relationship of the region with the federal government and the constitutional obligations of the two parties, he calls on the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq to expedite the return to the dialogue table and to resume and complete the talks and agree in accordance with The constitutional and legal mechanisms for resolving all outstanding issues and files between the two parties, pointing out that the citizen in the region is affected by the results of the delay in the talks and the failure to reach an agreement.

Haddad stated that “the federal government is obligated to secure financial dues and to secure the salaries of the region’s employees and retirees, similar to the rest of the Iraqi provinces, and in return, the region fulfills its constitutional obligations and arrives at joint solutions to enhance cooperation between Baghdad and Erbil.”

The Council of Ministers of the Kurdistan Region, confirmed yesterday, Wednesday, that the federal government has refrained from paying the salaries of the employees of the Kurdistan region for three months, indicating that the Kurdistan Regional Government did not leave any constitutional, legal, administrative or financial justification that it presented during the discussions in order to reach an agreement .

In turn, the Ministry of Finance called on, on Wednesday, the Kurdistan Regional Government to expedite fulfillment of its constitutional obligations and duties, and to return to the negotiating table, in the service of the public interest.
