Al-Atwani said in a press interview that “the government must go through some steps in order to preserve the sobriety of the local currency and its value in front of hard currency, by maximizing imports and ending the state of dependence on oil as the only resource because it is the main reason for this economic decline,” indicating that “the government must search New outlets that strengthen the Iraqi currency and reinforce its sobriety.
Al-Atwani added, “The big difference between the price of selling the dollar against the local currency in the central bank and in the black market is large, and it has to know who is the beneficiary, and in a simple equation we can be well aware that the first beneficiaries and the big speculator are the banks without the government reaping any benefit to the state treasury.” “,
Stressing that “the government must deal with the exchange rate inside and outside the currency auction or search for other means to reduce this speculation and that the government has a mechanism for balance between the selling and buying price, and to find other economic means that support the stability of the local currency price.”
He stressed that “the first victim of the high price of the dollar against the dinar is the simple citizen and the poor class, considering that this rise will lead to an increase in commodity prices in the market and a deterioration of the economic situation.”
