US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Tuesday that his country supports early elections in Iraq.

Pompeo said during a press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein that “Washington will not focus on the military file in its dialogue with Iraq.”

He noted, “His country supports early elections in Iraq and will provide 240 million dollars in new aid to Iraq.”

For his part, the Iraqi foreign minister said, “Baghdad and Washington were in one trench in fighting ISIS, and we will continue cooperation.”

“We have launched the second round of the strategic dialogue between Iraq and America,” he said.
