Yes, hard currency is once again being drained out of Iraq but it should not have a noticeable long term effect on the currency value. It is hard to pass and it is expensive. I think this is intentional. But to us, IMHO, it is more of an aggravation than any real threat to the value of the currency and most likely will stop with the election of a PM who is not sympathetic or beholden to Iran. There are different opinions on both sides as to whether Maliki will be staying or going and Talabani is still alive and well and in Germany and is getting treatment for his back as for as I know. Turki is the acting figure head for the CBI. Basically, Shabibi is still calling the shots, he is still very much a part of things. The banks are on alert, as we are.
