The Secretary-General of the Movement for Reform and Development, Mohammed Baziani, on Thursday, the United States of America “to abandon” the Kurdistan region after the referendum on secession last September, noting that all Kurdish political parties are “reviewing relations” with Washington, a response and accountability for the failure of the Kurds.
“All Kurdish parties are reviewing the double US position on the just cause of the Kurdish people,” Baziani said in an interview with Sky Press. “Reviewing relations with America is necessary at this stage.”
“The Americans have also abandoned the Kurds this time,” he said, pointing out that “this is the American people, and they had already abandoned the Kurds in 1975 to the fateful Algiers agreement.”
He added that “the consolidation of relations with Russia as an alternative to America is not a solution, and that Russia also failed the Kurds in 1947 when allowed Iran to destroy the first Kurdish republic.”
“The government of the region made a mistake when it entered into oil contracts with Russia,” he said, adding that “this contract with Russia will be at the expense of American and Western companies and may cause political and economic consequences.”
Baziani stressed “the need to unite the ranks and the internal solidarity of the people of Kurdistan to overcome the current stage,” stressing “the importance of building healthy and balanced relations with all international parties.”
He said that “the future of relations between Erbil and Baghdad should not be based on the rule of the majority and the confused, and there should be understandings because the loser in the end the Iraqi people.”
