US envoy to the International Alliance, Brett Macgork said that ” the United States believes that the time for a referendum in the Kurdistan region is not suitable.”
According Macgork in a press statement : “There is still south of the Kurdistan region and areas south of Kirkuk , where there are elements Daesh and it is appropriate to hold such a referendum now.”
And between, ” The United States has made clear its position to the President of the Kurdistan region of Iraq and Prime Minister, we believe that at this particular time that we are not with the referendum in the month of September, according to the Iraqi constitution must resolve these issues through dialogue and understanding.”
He added, “We’ve talked about this very clearly, continuous and conversations with other parties, and a delegation from the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, visited us and discussed, it is well known to all of you that the elements of Daesh are still present in some areas , such as Hawija and Tal Afar, and this will be battles not easy, especially in Hawija, the Iraqi army will participate with the Peshmerga forces to liberate them from the elements Daesh. ”
The Kurdish parties agreed on 7 June to hold a referendum next September 25 elections on 6 November.
